Les Aix Open Garden

Les Aix is a charming old Jersey granite house surrounded by extensive grounds and home to painting artist Ariel Whatmore.

Lined by oak trees underplanted with bulbs and wild flowers, the driveway provides a delightful informal approach to this beautiful traditional granite property, part of which dates back to the 12th century.

The garden has been sectioned into rooms, each seems to have a different colour, the grey room in the courtyard, the white room flanking the west of the house, and not to be missed the yew maze. Nearly a thousand box plants forming the internal spaces symbolise an artist’s palette, five small circular gardens of different colours and an old jersey cider press where the artists thumb would be holding the palette.

Entrance £5 per person, children under 12 free
Cream teas will be served all afternoon £5 each

JAYF Open Gardens are a fantastic family outing and a joy for garden lovers everywhere. Thank you to everyone who visited or supported our Open Gardens in 2022, we had a very successful season and it wouldn’t have been possible without all our wonderful volunteers and visitors. Guests tried their luck at tombolas and treated themselves to delicious cream tea, served with genuine Jersey clotted cream, milk and butter kindly donated by Fungi Delecti and Jersey Dairy. Thanks also to Neil and Alli Singleton of Birding Tours who ensured guests got the most out of their visit with their wonderful guided Walk and Talks. JAYF are enormously grateful to Aztec Group for its continued support of the Open Garden scheme.
